Dinner with Lucas and Miriam on Saturday was a lot of fun. So much so, that we missed the last train home and had to navigate back via buses full of well liquored people. We spent a lot of time talking about cultural differences, adapting to London and our thoughts on the world. They’ve been here for about 7 years, so they dropped some major insight on us. Neither of them spoke English upon arrival (they are quite fluent now), but aside from our envy of their language skills, we were able to collectively delve into some of the issues that non native English speakers face and why certain nuances of the language escape some people. Either way, we all had a great time, and I’m sure we’ll do it again soon.
