Dinner with Lucas and Miriam on Saturday was a lot of fun. So much so, that we missed the last train home and had to navigate back via buses full of well liquored people. We spent a lot of time talking about cultural differences, adapting to London and our thoughts on the world. They’ve been here for about 7 years, so they dropped some major insight on us. Neither of them spoke English upon arrival (they are quite fluent now), but aside from our envy of their language skills, we …

So rather than blather on in one post about everything that happened this weekend, I’ll probably break it up into a few posts. For those who seek zero details though, here you go:
1. We officially have a flat. It is rented and we have keys and we are moving tings over the next week.
2. We did some touristy stuff. We saw Big Ben, the Eye, and Westminster Abby. It only felt a little weird.
3. We made new friends from the Czech Republic in London at a Turkish restaurant. Go figure.
Details …

You forget that in Phoenix because you drive everywhere. Some of our most favorite people in the whole world lived 2 blocks away and they always drove over. Either way, here in London, you have 2 options. Walk to a tube station, take it, and then walk a little more to your destination, or just walk to your destination. Needless to say my calves and associates are remembering what it is like to be useful. As a person who likes to try and be “green,” I’m finding that you can’t …

Okay – first of all, I am SO glad we moved to London. I really like it here – even the rain, even the noise of living in a big city, and I have even come to look at the high prices as a personal challenge to get the best deal. Having said all this, moving sucks and moving to a new city is really hard. Here is a list of some of the things that are difficult about it:
1. Finding a suitable place to live. Key word here is …

Somehow I already won an award. To be honest, I think I won it for having patience with the whole transfer thing, but I am not entirely sure. Basically, the award consisted of a tour of HSBC HQ and a lunch with some important people. I also got a bag emblazoned with the HSBC logo, a pen set, a candy bar, and a bottle of water.
The tour was alright, but nothing special, since I have been to HQ several times already. The bag is cool! I can carry my umbrella …

Just ask the expert. Probably should get the name of the place. It is all part of getting to know the neighborhood and all of its little intricate areas and offerings. We eat it for you!

So we moved a few things over to the new flat today. Then Jen decided it was not clean enough and move in was put on hold. We will be staying with Isabelle for a few more days until Jen feels the place is up to code. Personally I have no idea what Jen is talking about as the place is just fine. Just watch the video and see for yourself!
Additionally, I think I figured out why Jen was walking so many miles over the last month, she was …

Well Michael made it safely to London. I’m sure he will tell his story better than I ever could, but just thought I’d let everyone know he is here. We had a lovely day walking around town, checking out our new flat (contract signed this time, and we move in tomorrow), and eating delicious Indian food. Michael tricked me into allowing him to have 2 desserts today, so I’m not really too happy about that, but otherwise I am thrilled to have him here – everything is finally getting settled. …
