I went to the big Westfield Shopping Centre today. The only thing different about it than every giant shopping center in the US is that it has a cupcake store. The frosting was twice as high as the cupcake itself. I may or may not have had one. You will all never know.
Anyway, all was well until the return journey. The last leg is on a double decker bus, and the driver was trying to kill us all! I got on the bus and started to walk upstairs when the …

So not too much news to report. All is well. I have another appointment with the midwife next week, and I am hoping everything will be just fine. Michael and I decided to not find out the sex of the baby, after all. We want it to be a surprise!
We are also making some progress on names, but nothing definitive yet.
So here you go, my week 19 belly:

As you loyal readers know, Michael and I have a habit of visiting places when they are closed, or some kind of renovation is going on… etc. My company sent me to Worthing for a few days to start up a project and I decided to visit Brighton, also know as London by the Sea. I have been wanting to go to Brighton for awhile now, so it has been a much anticipated journey.
I left the house at about 11:30am, thinking that the 1 1/2 journey would get me there …

So no ultrasound today… long story… but all is well and I heard the baby’s heartbeat! It was amazing, and of course I started to cry. The heart was beating at 160 bpm, so the old wives predict a girl…. time will tell!
All is well at work, too – I have been assigned some cool projects, and I am glad to be back with some of my friends from before. Also glad to be close to Borough Market – I have a date with work friends to go there for …

I had my first Doctor’s appointment today, which is going to be followed by another one tomorrow morning. Today was a check for the basics, and was completed by a nurse. She was so tiny that she had to stand a wooden baby chair to measure my height I am pleased to announce that I am 176cm tall. Tomorrow I meet with the actual GP and s/he will complete some more initial tests – all very standard. I am still amazed that you can just walk into a clinic, register …

One of the side benefits of being pregnant in London is that everyone is supposed to give up their seat to you if you have a “Baby on Board” badge pinned to your clothes. I haven’t really felt the need to get one just yet, but now that I am aware of this perk, I will definitely be getting one.
While I don’t have one yet, I have seen several of them floating around, and interestingly, I have only ever seen women offer up their seats!!! I must be showing a …

I have lots of news to report – some good, some taxing! On the GOOD side, I am settling in nicely. I found an excellent flat, and I am very happy about it because it is right on a 200 acre park. The balcony looks over a canal with dicks and geese – the canal is about 15 feet across (yes Mom, yes Kathleen,  yes Joanne, and yes Kristin, there is a fence around it so Baby Sutton will not go flying in), and then the park is literally right …

Still haven’t had an official ultrasound, but according to the sonogram of 2 weeks ago, I should be at approximately 17 weeks now. Or as Michael is secretly hoping, I am having twins. Should find out in 2-3 weeks. For those of you closely watching this news story, here is the most recent photographic evidence!

Baby Sutton and I have arrived safely in London. The flight was pretty fast – we actually  got in a little earlier than expected, and it lasted only about 9 hours. Really not too bad for door to door service.
Naturally, when on I got on board, there was a very elderly man sitting in my seat, which seems to happen pretty much every time I travel with an assigned seat. Usually I just suck it up an sit in the middle seat (trying to be respectful of the fact that …
