HELLO ICE CREAM!!!!!

18 March 2009 1 views 2 Comments

I had my first Doctor’s appointment today, which is going to be followed by another one tomorrow morning. Today was a check for the basics, and was completed by a nurse. She was so tiny that she had to stand a wooden baby chair to measure my height I am pleased to announce that I am 176cm tall. Tomorrow I meet with the actual GP and s/he will complete some more initial tests – all very standard. I am still amazed that you can just walk into a clinic, register your name and address, and pretty much everything is free. I guess there are a few tests for very specific diseases, such as if you have a history of Tays Sachs, and you personally want to know, for which you might have to pay, but luckily, HSBC has private medical coverage for all the Suttons, and even that is covered for us. Luckily, we don’t have any major genetic problems to worry about, so I doubt we will need any of that anyway!

Now to the Grandmas… don’t be mad, but I am 6 kilos underweight (13 pounds). The nurse said it is nothing to worry about, I just have to step up my eating. I feel like I have been eating like a horse, but apparantly I need to eat even more. Even if I remain slightly underweight for the whole pregnancy, I am totally fine, as each person is different, and we Mason girls have always been skinny. So I stopped at a place called The Match Maker for dinner and ate 3 big veggie sausages, a giant pile of mashed potatoes, and a normal portion of peas, AND I got broccoli, strawberries, and kiwi to eat later. Tomorrow… I am going to do battle with a big tub of ice cream.

Do you like nuts? High calorie in a small package, and good fats for you and the wee one.
