Hot Chocolate

30 May 2009 2 views 3 Comments

After our unbelievabe waffle experience, we were feeling a bit parched and decided we really needed hot chocolate. It was a cloudy, drizzly day – perfect for warming up in a cozy room with something warm to drink. We found our way to a place called De Proverie. Joanne ordered a cappucino, and John, Michael, and I ordered hot chocolate. After a few minutes, the waitress brought me what looked like a big cup of pure, melted chocolate. I was half thrilled, and half dreading the fact that I was going to have to drink a entire cup full. In theory, it seems like a really good idea, but in reality it would just be so rich I would probably die.  I put my spoon in to give it a stir and “clinked” on something hard. My brain wouldn’t quite process what was going on, and I thought maybe there was a hard shel of chocolate under the melted part…? I finally realized that they had served me a small saucer of melted chocolate on top of a steaming mug of milk, and I was supposed to mix the two together. Duh. It also came with a little plate of fresh whipped cream. It was easily the best hot chocolate I have ever had in my life, and the best part is – they sell the chocolate to melt and make your own at home. I can’t wait for a cool evening so I can drink up. Now I just have figure out how to make those waffles.

It is possible that you might just have a “food” addiction. You really do like the good stuff!!! I am thinking that the waffle place used creme-fresh and siagon cinnamon, both really the BEST. I don’t know how they made the actual waffles…you should ask them for the receipes when you go to these places. Some will give them to you, although it is known that some of the great taste is actually the experience of eating out at these wonderful places too!
