Braxton Hicks

9 June 2009 2 views 4 Comments

A few days ago I started having what are called Braxton Hicks contractions. They are perfectly normal and common, and they don’t hurt at all – they are just the way your uterus trains for the big event. It is weird, though, my belly gets super tight and hard, and then Baby wakes up and starts kicking. I’m sure it doesn’t feel very good to be squeezed from every direction. Or maybe he is kicking with glee… hard to say.

I have my next midwife appointment on Thursday afternoon, but I am afraid there will not be any photos – it is not a scan appointment. In fact there won’t be any baby pictures until his birth day. I am dreading the fact that I have to get a special shot to keep me from rejecting the baby – I have B- blood and Michael has positive blood, which means there is a chance the baby will have positive blood, nd if our blood mixes at all, I will make antobodies and reject him. Or something like that… Anyway, this shot will protect him from that type of mishap.

Now we just have to decide – cloth or disposable nappies? And we have to buy a crib, a resting chair, a sling, clothes, blankets, toys, books…. better get to it.

I just edited a chapter on this in a family health book. The doctor said that it is more of an issue with future babies because unless something happens, your body won’t be in contact with your baby’s blood until childbirth. It’s when this happens that your body develops immunities, which would then attack a future baby with positive blood. So even less to worry about!

So this Baby would be attacking Future Baby??? What a violent boy already! He does me proud!!! I still don’t wnt to get a stupid shot.

Your friend Melanie is correct. There is little chance of a mishap with this baby. It’s the next one you worry about….25% more each time. It’s called the Rh Factor. Gramma Dana and Grampa Neal had it and they didn’t have the shots at that time…so with every baby she had another 25% chance of the baby not making it. Mark was the one who shouldn’t be here today! Anyway, now there really isn’t much issue with it…because they have the shot.( Yeah for medical advancement!) Just grit your teeth and take it! It’s only a shot! What ever will you do when “baby” has to have shots and you have to be strong for him??? Can you tell me what you still need for him? At least save some things for us to shop for while I’m there!
