There is probably more of a primness in the countryside, but definitely not in London. London is one of the more progressive places I have been - you will see punk rock piercing guy chatting with business man guy and and a lady dressed in a crazy hat for church or a wedding on the train, and it is completely common. British people are extremely nice as a whole, but they are more reserved about feelings and acknowledging differentness. Everyone is very live and let live... Total stereotype. It's such a common recommendation, at least in material produced here. I'm glad you went with the bikini. Not that you had a choice (also odd), but that's an awesome image.
