Bump…
I fell down today! Ow. Everything is fine. Baby is fine, I am fine, Michael is fine – all verified by the midwife. It was raining pretty hard this morning, and there is a dusty area across the street on the way to the bus stop that gets kind of slick when it rains. As I was thinking about texting Michael once I got to the bus to warn him about the slipperiness, the ground just kind of went sideways. I landed really hard on my butt, then smacked my head against the brick building I was walking next to. I got up, took a step or 2 toward the bus stop and felt my chin start to quiver a little. I made it most of the way back to the flat before I started bawling. Poor Michael – he thought I was in labor and freaking out about it, but no, I was just freaking out because I thought for sure I had hurt the baby. I guess my heart was racing and I know I was crying and crying. But then baby started to move, no bleeding, and no pains or contractions. I checked everything out with the midwife, just to make sure, and she agreed that everything is just fine. The only way you can really do much damage is if you actually fall on your belly, which I did not do. Anyway, Michael has forbidden me from going to work anymore. He says I am a Hard Headed Henrietta, and I better just stop trying to do too much. I GUESS he is right. So I will be working from home the next 2 weeks, then I am officially on leave. Frankly, it felt good to just stop being a stubborn old mule, but don’t tell Michael he was right – he will lord it over me. And Grandmas – I PROMISE everything is fine, and if I feel even a tiny twinge of pain, I will go to the labor ward and have myself and baby checked out again.

Remember when we talked about “nesting”? That would be inside where it’s safe! I hope you’re not sore and bruised tomorrow. REST now.
Love, Mom
