Update. Mom and baby came home last night and everyone is settling in quite nicely. Zev sleeps–a lot–and therefore it is hard to catch him in an active state. So for those who want proof he actually opens his eyes… and sneezes, with a look like what was THAT?

That wasn’t a misprint, Zev was 23 1/4 ” and 9lbs 13 oz.
Jen is still in the hospital, but because Zev is being kept for monitoring because he has an elevated respiratory rate. It isn’t anything to be too concerned about at the moment, but we will keep everyone updated. (That is why you haven’t heard much from her.)

I think I am losing site of the prize here. For the last few days I have been viewing labor as the end goal, to the point where I have almost stopped thinking about the baby himself. I have been having contractions ranging from mild to quite painful for about 3 days now, averaging 20 minutes apart, but nothing is really happening. It is really frustrating. Around 4:30 or so I went for a walk to see if I could kick-start some contractions, and it worked! By a few minutes after 6 I was having a ton of cramps and some moderately painful contractions. Still nothing consistent or anything, but way more than I have ever had before. So the answer to last week’s question about if that would be my last pregnant photo is NO!!!! Here I am showing off our Bloom baby chair at 40 weeks to the day. I can’t wait to have my little Sutton to put in it.

Just got back from the midwife. Everyone is healthy – my blood pressure has dropped just a little down to 100/60 (anything above 90/60 is normal – not sure what the high parameters are). But this is no cause for alarm because the baby has a very strong heartbeat and everything else is fine.
Last week they told me they would do a membrane sweep today, but since I am having contractions on my own, they want my body to have a go at just finishing the process naturally. Stupid Nature. …
