Six Years: Iron, Plates or Wood?

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary. In keeping with both the British (plate) and American (iron) traditions I have purchased Jennifer full iron plate mail armour for her to wear to all the Renaissance fairs and reenactments she so deeply loves. These traditions can seem antiquated, so luckily the “modern” guide to anniversary gifts recommends the much more progressive wood as the 6 year theme. Whilst Jen’s wooden shield won’t provide the same level of protection her armour will, it does cover all my bases. How I long for the days when I will be able to shower Jen with hollowware and musical instruments to celebrate our blessed union!

It has been the best 6 years of my life and as year 7 begins, I look forward to the chapter where our family grows to three and the real fun begins… I wouldn’t have it any other way, and I couldn’t have a better partner to continue my journey with.

You know, the really adorable thing is that just as Michael and I wrote each other poems on our wedding day without the other’s knowledge, I bought him an almost identical suit of armour and shield.
