Do You Think I Was Born Yesterday?

Oh, wait… (sorry, but now that I am a dad, I reserve the right to employ “dad” humour.)
Zev
So here are the details to a some of the questions we have been receiving.

  1. That wasn’t a misprint, Zev was 23 1/4 ” and 9lbs 13 oz.
  2. Jen is still in the hospital, but because Zev is being kept for monitoring because he has an elevated respiratory rate. It isn’t anything to be too concerned about at the moment, but we will keep everyone updated. (That is why you haven’t heard much from her.)
  3. Jen delivered Zev naturally with no epidural. We attempted a water birth, but when Jen’s body temperature got too high we had to move into the traditional hospital room (and by we, I mean Jen and I watched.)
  4. Jen arrived at the hospital at 6pm, was seen at 6:30pm, entered the birthing pool at about 7:45 where she became fully dilated and started labour. Jen exited the pool at 9:00pm, her water broke at 9:30pm and delivered at 11:36pm.
  5. Zev is Hebrew for deer and/or wolf. Zevry is our own take on the name (pronounced Zev-ree).
  6. Zev is single, a Virgo and likes long naps.

Thanks for the update! Love, love, love the name. He’s adorable. Alex and I stayed in the hospital, too. Sounds like they’re just being cautious. It’s a nice chance for Jen to get some rest before coming home, as long as nurses aren’t coming into her room constantly.

He is unbelievably adorable. Isn’t it the hardest thing in the world to watch him sleep and control your impulse to touch him? Being a parent is so awesome. And it just keeps getting better. Keep us posted!

Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you guys – Man, how time flies. As the mother of a 6 year old boy I can say without a doubt (and of course no bias) that little boys are the BEST! Enjoy every moment. I love his name.
