Life With Zev

23 September 2009 30 views No Comment

Well we are starting to settle into life with our little angel. We have a basic schedule, but it is pretty loose. We all go to bed around 11:30, and Zev wakes me sometime between 2 and 4am. He is starting to sleep longer and longer, and I am hoping that before too long, he will regularly sleep until 4 or 5. The later he sleeps, the more alert he becomes when he does wake up, so he not only wants to eat, but also play! This means we make faces at each other, look at his wrist rattle, or Zev gets a foot massage. Then we go back to bed and wake up again with Daddy at about 7:30 for a sleepy feed. We doze until about 9am, and get up for the day. Zev usually plays Monkey Island Baby Gym for about 30 minutes, which is nice because I can clean up and get myself something to eat. Then its pretty much eat, sleep, play all day. I try to do one activity with him each day – we go for a walk, go to baby school, meet Daddy for lunch, etc., and I plan to go to the museum and library with him soon. I haven’t yet because I have been lazy, but also because Zev has had a lot of doctor appointments and social engagements. In the afternoon, we read a book and Zev takes a nap while I tidy up the house. When Michael comes home, they usually havee a little time together, then somebody makes dinner and we all hang out together til bedtime. Things are getting easier and smoother. The hardest thing is trying to figure out what he wants when he cries. 50% of the time he is hungry, 25% of the time his has a dirty pantload or gas, and 10% of the time he is lonely when he wakes up from a nap and wants to be held. Then 15% of the time, I just don’t know! I think sometimes h is bored because I out him on Monkey Island or bounce him or show him pictures and he often settles down. I guess like everyone, he sometimes just feels like complaining.
Zev has a weigh in today, and I am really hoping he will back to his birth weight or even higher! He was 4.2kg on Friday, so with a little luck, we should be in good shape!DSC05839
