Oh, What A Busy Day!

7 October 2009 23 views 4 Comments

Its funny how having a newborn can turn completing a few simple tasks into a very busy day. But it was also a great day. Baby school was “Music Therapy,” and the lady who helps special needs kids develop was there to teach us how to use music in our own childrens’ lives. It was a really good session. We started by learning some songs and actions – basically how to teach young babies to use turn taking and anticipation via songs. Then she brought out some small instruments. Zev is the youngest baby in class, so he got a very small tambourine! He could grip it but he didn’t really know what to do with it. Then she passed out some chimes and Zev went crazy. He started bouncing around – smiling and chortling. He was actually purposefully strumming the chimes, which was just amazing. Finally, at the end of class, the leader came around and played the flute in front of each baby. Zev was transfixed; utterly focused on her song. The whole experience was just great. Next week is baby resuscitation, and then 3 weeks of baby massage!
In other Zev news, he’s weighing in at 10lbs, 6oz, and 63 cm, and has no jaundice left! So all we really did was have baby school and 2 doctor appointments, but that managed to take the whole day. But any day spent with Baby is a good day.

Perhaps Zev can join Uncle Ryan’s band. I think Ryan mentioned that he wanted a tambourinist!

Are there baby banana suits for Zez to wear as a member of Ryan’s band? He would be like a chiquita banana…

Can’t believe I typo-ed Zev’s name wrong… SORRY little man! I blame the Pei Wei post-lunch food coma.
