This Week…

What an exciting week! On Monday, Zev and I met our friends Lucy and Sophie and we went to the Natural History Museum. We will definitely be back. We went to a special Darwin Exhibit, which was nothing short of spectacular. They had a really cool set up – when you enter the exhibit, you go into this giant cocoon, which houses the collection. Your ticket is a lightweight flexible card, and at each display in the exhibit, you can save data to your card and then look it up later at home. Basically, you end up with a personalized library of your visit, and the ability to research the things that were of interest to you while you were walking around. The museum is huge, and we just scratched the surface as they have exhibits on fossils, dinosaurs, space, animals… just goes on and on. Next week is the Science Museum. These things are going to be even more fun as Zev gets older and can actually participate instead of just sleeping!
Tuesday we went to lunch with my friend Hannah. It was really good to see her, as we had become close while I worked at HSBC, and I miss chatting with her every day. She is just a really nice person, and thinks Zev is amazing and gorgeous (everyone here says babies are gorgeous).
Wednesday was Baby School (last week of baby massage). I can’t tell you how much Zev loves to be massaged. He really likes going to Baby School too… he looks around at the other babies and smiles and giggles the whole time. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, and I think he enjoys being out of the house and seeing other small people. Next week is Baby Sleep! Should be interesting. He was also weighed on Wednesday – gained 14 oz in the past 2 weeks, so he is maintaining a steady growth pattern. He is off the charts (literally) for height and head size, and at about the 35 percentile for weight. But he is staying on that course, so this is just his pace! At some point – probably at the solid food stage – he may start to balance out a bit. But I adore his long, skinny self just as he is, and I think he is perfect!
Thursday Zev had his first vaccination. I went back and forth on exactly what to do. There is so much conflicting information out there. Some “experts” say vaccines are just one more way the pharmaceutical industry is scaring everyone into giving them a bunch of money, and there are a lot of studies which show they are not especially effective. On the other hand, you can show whatever you want with statistics, and some of the groups with the above opinions are whack jobs with their own weird agendas. But I don’t want to put Zev at risk. Sigh…. such decisions.
We were invited to a concert on Friday, but Zev became ill (probably from his vaccine). Every time I pulled him off the nipple he screamed and screamed, which is really unlike him. He had a low fever and was really sleepy, so we just stayed in a had a quiet day together. Then Michael / Daddy came home and took us out to Sushi! A good week all around!DSC06044
