Dear Zevry,
Today is your first Christmas and I thought I would take a moment to tell you how much it means to me to spend this day with you and your Daddy. Your Auntie Kathleen, Uncle Ryan, Grandma Jo, Grandpa John, and Daddy are all in the other room, we just talked to Nana and Grandpa David, Auntie Kristin, Great Uncle Jim, and tried to get in touch with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Betty, and Auntie Heather, and I sneaked away to write you a letter.
There really are no words to describe how a Mommy loves her little boy, but at the same time, I feel like I have to try. You can’t even begin to imagine how much I love you Zev. Every day when I wake up I feel so lucky to have you in my life. When I see that big gummy grin from your sleepy face, I just know that you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love the fact that you, without even knowing or trying, have created a new family. You have made me realize things about how my own parents must feel about me and my sisters, and how your Grandma Jo and Grandpa John must feel about your Dad and Uncle. And somehow, I love your Daddy even more than did when it as just the two of us, though I would have claimed that was not possible! When I say you’ve made a family, I really mean it, because we are all three in love with each other, and each day just gets better than the one before.
You’re 4 months old in 2 days, and you are growing fast! You have all these amazing abilities. You can almost sit up on your own, you can stand if Daddy helps you, and you laugh and smile when he flies you around the room and we demand that you “get down from there!” Daddy loves to ask you how you got so big, and this never fails to amuse you. You are fascinated with your fingers and toes, and you love to take a bath. I swim you around the tub every night and you smile peacefully as you float around. Of course you learned how to splash and stamp a few days ago, and it makes you giggle with glee when you understand you can make a loud noise! You are simply a constant source of entertainment and joy to me, and I never knew I could feel such intense love for such a tiny little person.
You got so many presents this Christmas!!! I think it overwhelmed you a little bit because you fell asleep about halfway through opening everything. It was nice in a way because I was able to bring you into the other room and have a few minutes of you all to myself to calm you down and feed you. I love feeding you when you are wide awake because you stare at me like I am the best thing in the world. I can see what I think is pure love pouring out of your eyes, and you know I return it to you 1000 times over. It is such a special time for me because I know that it won’t always be this simple or perfect, but I look forward to the challenges and joys that each year will bring. So dear Zevry, Merry Christmas, You are the best present every single day and I love you and your Dad with my whole heart.
