Just Like Mommy

The kid likes to eat. A lot. And pretty much anything. But he definitely has his favorites: bananas, porridge, avocados, oranges, broccoli, and pretty much any fruit. Sometimes he gets so excited that its breakfast / lunch / dinner / snack time that he kneels and starts bouncing and yelling… not crying but yelling with glee! For example, last night was Mexico night – he got unsalted refried beans with a tiny bit of cheese, avocados, and quartered grapes. Now bear in mind that his stomach is the size of his fist… he ate about 1/4 cup of beans, half an avocado, and 5 grapes. He was making the eat and more sign faster than I could possibly feed him, and usually while he still had a mouthful of food. And the whole time he was bouncing around saying “Mmmmmmmmmmm!” and yelling! Michael and I were laughing because he keeps such a serious look on his face but he is acting so silly! I am still really excited about the baby sign language. I think its going to be a huge help to us as he grows. He has mastered more and eat. He does milk sometimes (though its probably more my fault that he doesn’t do it regularly – I don’t make the sign consistently every time I feed him). He does drink really well, but doesn’t ask for a drink very often. He has sort of made the signs for I love you (wishful thinking?) and bath. He also responds almost perfectly to the sign for stop. I am trying to only use it when I really need him to stop so he usually respects when I ask him to stop (whining, pulling, whatever). I give total credit to his class on this one – they taught me a really good technique to teach stop. There is a little song we sing while playing instruments and then we “STOP!” Then play / stop / play / stop, etc. It worked well! I’m trying to teach him dog and bird, too, just because they are more fun words which he can use to be expressive at some point.
We sold his big chair, and I miss it. I made him a makeshift highchair out of a regular chair with a table and sofa pushed against each side so he can’t tip over. He is excellent at sitting up, but when he gets so excited by the food he has been known to fall over backward and scare himself.

Grandpa Jim requested a video of Zevry signing so click here to see it.
He’s a little cranky because its early and I wasn’t feeding him quickly enough.

In other news… still no teeth, and packing is boring.
