Milestone Mania

I read somewhere that around the 9 month mark, your child will amaze you almost every day with something new. This is most definitely true for me! Zevry has been doing all these great new things lately – I almost can’t keep up. He has mastered pulling himself up. The only issue is that he wants to pull up on everything. Every. Thing. Me, the dogs, the bookshelf, his Zany Zoo activity center, the bed, the couch, the 6 inch high box. All he knows is he wants up. He is desperate to walk by himself, but he is a few months away from that, so he gets really angry when I walk him around the house and then out him back down. I think he’d walk all day if it were up to him.
Zev’s also figured out how to get from lying down to sitting up. It takes a few minutes for him to do it, but he’s got it. This means he can get into anything he wants. If you lay him down and blink once, he’s magically standing up 10 feet away giving the dog a banana. And this is pre-walking.
He finally cut a tooth! Its the front middle right one, and he is so pleased. Apparently once the tooth cuts through, there is a lot of pain relief. He’s been struggling for about 2 weeks, so I think getting this one through is very welcome to the little guy. The front middle left one feels like it is right there, and I’m guessing it will poke through in a day or two.
His vocalizations are changing. It often sounds like he is talking now, though still not using words. His jabber sounds more and more like a foreign language. His signing has not really progressed, in fact he may have even lost a bit of progress there. I think its because I have focused a lot of his training on mealtimes and I can’t really sign to him when he’s sitting on my lap. We will be getting a high chair in the next day or two, so I think things will improve.
His sleep has made a big improvement. He regularly sleeps through the night… often for 11 hours straight. He wakes up sometimes when I come to bed, but I can’t really blame him if I jostle him around. He’s adjusting to Phoenix time pretty well. Slept til 1am yesterday, 3:30 today, and I’m hoping tomorrow we’ll be back on track with a big sleep til 7 or 8!
We’re getting settled in here, and all is well. Feels good to be home.
