Settling In

7 June 2010 27 views No Comment

So we are starting to settle in to our new, old house. Jason moved 95% of his stuff this past weekend, meaning we get our bedroom back! We’ll miss Jason, but we also like the bedroom, walk in closet, and our bathroom. It is nice to have the space. This also means we can now start organizing the other bedrooms, and finally get Zev’s space in order.
Zev is still moving around like crazy. He crawls and cruises everywhere, and he is gaining a lot of confidence. He loves to look over the edge of the bathtub (probably dreaming about bath time), and he throws whatever is nearby inside. He is eating so much. I swear he eats as much as I do! I can’t tell if the child is starving or just really likes to taste foods. He has started using his teeth to bite foods – today he had big chunks of watermelon and you could see the little bite marks where he had bitten off bits.
Michael’s getting into his job, and so far so good. Its too soon to tell if it is a dream job, but he seems to like it, the hours are really good, and the commute is not too bad.
Zevry and I went to our first Arizona baby class today. It was really, really good! The local library has what they call family story time, but it actually involves songs, books, bubbles, puppets, and a giant parachute – Zev sat slack jawed with wonder at that! All the babies sat underneath it and the moms made it go up and down over them…he loved it. They also had the same puppet as one of his classes in London, and he made a beeline for it when he saw it. When Michael got home from work, the three of us were sitting outside and it was so hot that I was dangling the baby’s feet in the water so he could cool off a bit. He started kicking so much that he soaked his outfit, so I ran in, got my swimsuit, and stripped him down to naked and the two of us went for a swim with the dogs. Zev absolutely loved it – he was giggling and “swimming” around. I think he thought it was cool to be in the water with the dogs. The water is still a little on the cool side, and his chin started quivering with cold after about 20 minutes, so Daddy bundled him up in his towel. I’m sure he was perfectly hot again in about 2 minutes, since it was still 95 degrees out.
Still missing London a little – mostly friends and a few conveniences, but I am really happy to be here with family right now! I think once were truly settled things will be even better, but for now I am just enjoying spreading out!
