Now that Zevry is a toddler, I feel it is time for him to take on some responsibility toward the upkeep of the household, so he’s been assigned a chore. He must put his pajamas in his hamper every morning, and his day clothes in the hamper at night. I tell him, ” Go put your clothes in the basket, Zevry!” And he just does it! And yes, I know… if someone else was telling me this I would be be rolling my eyes – this isn’t exactly the accomplishment …

We just got back from the Botanical Garden this morning. Zev was not impressed. We spent 30 minutes there and he had a complete meltdown the likes of which I have never seen before. He was sitting there watching a carpenter bee, and I was explaining what the bee was doing when all the sudden he started wailing. I checked to make sure he hadn’t been stung and it didn’t appear that he had been, but he was just screaming. Snot was pouring out of his nose and he …

Making friends is ridiculously easy when you have a baby. I suppose you have to have a somewhat outgoing personality, but as long as you do, you have a built in social circle at pretty much any playground, park, or library. You don’t have to be best friends with every single person, but it is nice to know that you can just approach people and as long as you have a child with you who is within about 1 year of the age of their child, 99% of the time …

The diving board drew first blood. As many of you know, Zev enjoys a good nude dip in the pool most days, and after his swim, he often likes to hold onto the railing and do a little pole dancing. Its actually pretty hilarious to watch, but seems inappropriate to post videos for what I hope are obvious reasons. Anyway, he was dancing away when he lost his footing and bonked his little mouth on the diving board. He was very, very sad for a few minutes. I picked him …

What an amazing year. Zevry, you changed my life so much, and I am so grateful you are part of our family. I never would have thought I could love you more than I did the first time I felt your little heartbeat against my chest, the first time I felt your soft skin, or smelled your sweet little head. In fact, there have been so many firsts this past year, I can’t even begin to list them all. You’re the best baby in the whole wide world and I …

Every night, right before he goes to bed, Zev gets a full body massage (lucky him). Its nothing too fancy – 5 minutes or so where we talk about our day and connect before he goes to sleep. His job has always been to hold the massage oil bottle.
Zev and I were cleaning up his toys in his room today when he spied his bottle of massage oil. He grabbed it and handed it to me. I thought he was helping me clean up, so I put it on the …

Zev has been really interested in birds lately. We go swimming a few times a week and then sit out in the shade and wait for the hot air to dry us off. While we do that, a lot of birds fly overhead. They fly from tree to tree, and sometimes land on the roof or the ground. A few weeks ago, Michael was holding him the pool and he pointed in the air and said bird one time, but then he didn’t say it again. He also made the …

Zev got his 3rd tooth today! Top left finally poked through this morning. I swear, it has been coming down the pipe for a month. His bottom two came in without much trouble, but these top two were just monsters. I think a lot of the pain should be relieved once the other one cuts through. Poor little guy has been wreck – his sleep is messed up, his eating has been altered… everything has just been wrong! Hopefully this gets him back on track.

So Zev got his first haircut. He was looking quite wild and woolly and I think he was scaring the other children. I decided to give him a little trim, and it seemed silly to take him to a barber shop or even one of those kids haircut places. His hair was about a million different lengths and was starting to grow over his ears, so I really just wanted to trim the edges and make his top hair short enough that his shampoo mohawk could actually stand up. He …

At 10 months and 3 weeks, Zevry took his first steps! Not sure if I should be glad or scared – a little of both perhaps. They were very, very shaky steps, but he did it! He was standing holding onto a low chair and I was about 3 feet away from him. He let go of the chair and stood by himself for about 20 seconds and then he got this big grin and he took about 3 steps toward me and then fell down into my lap. He …
