Just a quick entry here in case I forget to jot this down somewhere. Zev’s been saying Mama for a few weeks now, but he also just started to say “Buh” and “Dog.” He does “Buh” when he waves and I think it might mean bye. And “Dog” is dog. His pronunciation is less than perfect, but he is a baby after all.

So we are starting to settle in to our new, old house. Jason moved 95% of his stuff this past weekend, meaning we get our bedroom back! We’ll miss Jason, but we also like the bedroom, walk in closet, and our bathroom. It is nice to have the space. This also means we can now start organizing the other bedrooms, and finally get Zev’s space in order.

I read somewhere that around the 9 month mark, your child will amaze you almost every day with something new. This is most definitely true for me! No, not on a baby singles cruise to the Bahamas, though he is quite a ladies man. Zevry still needs a lot of help with balance when he stands. He has the strength to fully support his weight, but he can’t quite do it on his own. Tonight I gave Zevry a bath and I was blowing soap bubbles at him. He would watch them land on his belly and try to touch them and of course they would pop. So I kept saying “Bye Bye Bubbles!!!” And he repeated it back to me! I know he doesn’t know what it means, but he said “Bye Bye Bubbles” very clearly about 3-4 times. Later he kept trying to say it and came close, but it was more like “Buh Buh Bubs.” It was very, very sweet!

The kid likes to eat. A lot. And pretty much anything. But he definitely has his favorites: bananas, porridge, avocados, oranges, broccoli, and pretty much any fruit. Sometimes he gets so excited that its breakfast / lunch / dinner / snack time that he kneels and starts bouncing and yelling… not crying but yelling with glee! Baby signing seems to be taking a big leap forward. Since Zev was around 4 months old, we’ve been making the sign for more, and he caught on quickly. He began to sign more for everything, though, as many babies do. Apparently, they are so excited that someone finally understood their intentions that they make the same sign, hoping it will mean different things. The same is true of the 2nd and 3rd signs. They make the sign for the right thing, but often attach it to the wrong thing, …

I caught a milestone on video today… well, half of it anyway. Zev has this toy dog that sings and talks in a British accent (except for the words hippopotamus, oranges, and purple which, weirdly, are in an American accent). So lately Zevry’s been loving this dog and playing with him a lot. We were playing on the couch and I put Scout (the dog) up on the back, against the wall. We went to Hyde Park for fun at the playground, and they had a carousel out for the Easter Holidays. We stopped so Zev could have a look at it and he was absolutely entranced by the lights and music so of course we had to take a ride! Since Zevry and Sophie are so little the had to ride in the coach instead of on one of the horses, but they didn’t seem to mind!

Yes that is a real word. Volcano Eyjafjallajoekull in Iceland has been erupting and shooting ash into the atmosphere and they’ve shut down all the airports in Northern Europe. It looks sunny outside, but apparently there is enough glass and other particles in the air to clog up jet engines. That kind of makes me wonder if I should hold my breath for a few days.
