Bath is world famous for it’s bath houses (obviously) that the Romans established way back in the day. When we arrived in the city I would definitely say that it seemed like they would be the highlight of the trip. As it turned out, the bath houses were (while very educational) one of the more average parts. The city itself is quite beautiful and picturesque. It is situated in the middle of seven hills and on the Avon river. What turned out to be the beauty of the city was …

Jen and I welcomed our first visitors today. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing friends passing through and taking them to Mildred’s but this week we welcomed our first flat guests and the first to utilize the guest bed.
Unfortunately those guests arrived at 6am at Heathrow, and as I shortly learned, there isn’t a train that even leaves to go out to Heathrow until 5:54 am. Fortunately, Mom and Dad were willing to wait at the coffee shop while I got out to Terminal 5. Why Terminal 5? Because Jen …

My friend Lisa was visiting England and Denmark (and maybe a few other places) and we all met for dinner. Lisa’s boyfriend is in a Pink Floyd tribute band, so we  got to hear some interesting stories about their tour. We had a good time at dinner, and it was really good to see her!

So it has been 3 weeks since I began my job search and I can say that given the current conditions, it is going rather well. I have nothing to report yet, but one thing I have noticed is that since employers know that this is a tough market, they are now making you jump through more hoops. I suppose that when you can afford to be picky, why not? Nonetheless it can be a little frustrating when you think that you have finished a process and you find out …

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful Moms out there! We love you all and I know I especially have a new found appreciation for what you went through to get us here. That being said, we celebrated our first Mother’s Day here in London with french toast and juice. I decided to get Jen a little something just to let her know I appreciate her as the mother of my unborn child, so I got her a body pillow. Jen has had a few restless nights as of …

I had my last scan today and was told we have a naughty baby (said in an extremely British accent).

Here is a list of the things Baby did today to earn him this label:
1. Shook his head “no” over and over again when the technician tried to measure his head. He just would not hold his head still!
2. Pressed his face against the inside wall of the placenta while the tech was trying to take a picture of his face.
3. Arched his back and extended his neck out making his …

Michael has an all day football extravaganza today, so I decided to busy myself with a trip to Columbia Road Flower Market. Naturally, I forgot my camera, but it was so crowded that it would have been hard to capture the scene anyway. The market is pretty amazing. If and when my mom comes out, this is going to be a top priority because they have every kind of flower and plant you can imagine, in every color and shape you could want. The only thing I noticed a distinct …

Oh Ron, you crafty, wily veteran. You just love to cause trouble! Ron’s new thing is staying connected for about 30 minutes and then dropping off the internet while making you think you are still on. As if job hunting isn’t enough of a challenge, Ron likes to drop out right after I type up and send a nice custom cover letter and lose it forever. Obviously, now I cut and paste in from another application, but it took me a good 3 or 4 of these before I figured …
